EDJBA Junior Domestic Overview
Welcome to the Bulleen Boomers Junior Domestic program!
The Boomers Junior domestic program is entry level competitive basketball for young people aged 6 – 19 years, comprising about 170 teams and approximately 1,400 registered players. We have teams that will match your child’s skill level, and offer coaching and a program that will help them improve as they foster their love of basketball.
Our Junior Domestic teams have enjoyed great success over the years! We compete in the Eastern District Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA) competition which covers a wide part of Eastern Melbourne (from Park Orchards/Warrandyte in the east, Eltham in the north, Collingwood/Ivanhoe in the west and Box Hill in the south). There are over 1,300 teams competing in the EDJBA from A grade to D across the age groups.
Games are played on Saturdays from 8:30 am, generally with the younger age groups playing earliest. The U17 and U19 age groups are expected to be available for games after 5.40pm. The EDJBA organizes game fixtures to take into account the team compatibilities (e.g. a coach may be coaching more than one team).
- The Summer Season runs from October to end of March (School Terms 4 & 1)
- The winter season from April to September (School Terms 2 & 3)
Teams are allocated a half court for a 45 minute training session each week on a Monday to Thursday night between 4:30pm and 9:00pm during the season. In general, the younger teams train earlier in the evening.
Teams are generally based on ability but friendship teams and nominating friends to play with are included in the registration process. For friendship teams all players need to request it on their registration forms and they need to be available for the same training times.
All our coaches in this program are volunteers – generally former and current players, parents or older siblings.
The club is always looking for coaches if you would like to coach please fill out the intention to coach form (available under Junior Domestic – EDJBA Forms tab) or contact the junior domestic convener.
